India's first high-speed regional rail system connecting Delhi to Meerut in 55 minutes at 180 km/h, anchored by 25 stations designed as catalysts for transit-oriented development across the NCR.
The Delhi–Meerut RRTS is a 82.15 km semi-high-speed rail corridor running through the dense urban spine of the National Capital Region. Unlike metro systems designed for urban circulation, the RRTS is a regional connector — operating at up to 180 km/h to cut the Delhi-to-Meerut journey from over 90 minutes to 55 minutes.
“The RRTS is not just a transit project — it is a land-use instrument. The stations are designed to be the nuclei of new urban precincts.”
— Director General, NCRTC
The corridor's 25 stations were conceived as intermodal hubs, each with dedicated bus bays, NMT parking, and last-mile connectivity infrastructure. Station architecture follows a family design language — a continuous canopy of folded steel, expressed differently at each location to reflect the character of its context.
Priority section from Sahibabad to Duhai (17 km) opened in October 2023, making it the first operational RRTS segment in India. The full corridor to Meerut is expected to open in phases by 2025.
